Extension of the exhibition spaces represents a remarkable and significant achievement and makes the Museum Complex of San Francesco the first historical museum in the Umbria region that also boasts areas dedicated to contemporary art exhibitions.
Restoration work carried out in the basement in 2006, designed to refurbish the space underneath the nave (once used as a charnel house), revealed three vaulted corridors that now house contemporary art exhibitions.

The San Francesco Museum Complex hosts the works of four artists: Annie Hsiao-Ching Wang and Karen Hui-Yu Lo, originally from Taiwan, and the Italians Frank Dituri and Mauro Manetti. The themes they address are, on the one hand, female identity and family conflict, and on the other, the transcendental dimension. Toward a poetic horizon.
